Brahma Jnana, often translated as Knowledge of Ultimate Reality, is the spiritual pursuit of discovering the deepest truth of who and what we are beneath the temporary identities, habits, fears, attachments, wounds, and stories that we have accumulated throughout life. Within a recovery setting, Brahma Jnana can be approached as a path of self-knowledge and spiritual transformation. Addiction can gradually narrow a person’s identity until the individual begins to experience themselves primarily through cravings, consequences, shame, survival patterns, and the past.
