Writing and Healing
Writing can be an emotional outlet.
It can help put your irrational thoughts into perspective.
Before an addictive behavior begins, there’s an irrational thought process which we call a trigger. If we write down this trigger, it does two things. 1) makes us think twice about the trigger so we don’t react so quickly. 2) it brings the triggering/irrational thought into our awareness, which can cause us to pause(which creates space) and then be able to make a rational decision(call sponsor or support group/friend get to a meeting). We will also experience creative writing as a healing tool.
